  • Collaborate with the student's team regarding behavior/safety plans for student.
  • Implements behavioral support plans for assigned student.
  • Assist student with the daily schedule in the classroom and in common areas of the building (lunch, cafeteria, etc)  and support with daily activities
  • Help student with sensory needs and/or breaks when needed.
  • Follow teachers’ activities and instructions from Director of Special Education  
  • Interact effectively with co-workers and students.
  • Collect IEP and/or behavior data as outlined by the student’s team
  • Actively participate with other students in the classroom when the assigned student is independently engaged or absent.
  • Check in with Director for daily duties when assigned student is absent
  • Assist classroom teacher as a paraprofessional when staff are out if needed.
  • Go on field trips, as needed, for extra support.
  • Serve as mandated reporter 
  • Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services.
  • Arrive to work on time; punctually attend and actively participate in all required activities, meetings, and  professional development.
  • Be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in program activities.
  • Project a professional work image, both in dress and manner.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with employment policies and performance standards.
  • Commitment to mission and values in the performance of daily duties

Education/ Experience/ Skills:

  • BA preferred; Minimum of an Associate of Arts or Science degree (60 credits)
  • At least one year of relevant experience preferred;
  • Strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals, and philosophy of Baystate Academy Charter Public School;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and diverse priorities;
  • Must have the ability to consistently show good judgment and decision making skills;
  • Professional appearance and attitude;
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • English/Spanish bilingual desired
